March Madness 2: I'm too old for this...

I have a splitting headache and I feel queasy. For some strange reason I still feel the effects of peer pressure, so I went out with some people to the exciting town of Hoboken, NJ. It may not sound exciting, but it wasn't half bad. I'm in too much pain to go into detail so I'll bullet the trip to Hoboken
  • All night long I kept yelling the name HOBOKEN! It's fun to say and even more fun after 5 drinks
  • I threw up at the beginning of the night. I ate too much of a not so good pasta dinner and drank a thick beer too fast and the next thing I know I'm throwing up onto a DSW bag on the side of the street. So i left a little bit of myself in Hoboken.
  • Bars in Hoboken love Journey.
  • I can not drink as much as I use to in college... I need to remember this.
  • I think I texted everyone in my phone that I was in Hoboken.
  • At the end of the night the only thing open was a Dunken Donuts. I go in for a donut and a bathroom. Two guys follow me shortly after, one thought that Dunken Donuts was closed and started banging on the glass to let him in. Sports guy opened the door and we all laughed at the other guy.
  • One guy kept calling Hoboken Weboken or Hohaken.
  • I saw a lot of stereo typical Jersey types.
  • We had the same cabbie to and from Hoboken. At the end of the night, we started to call him Mr. Yow. As we leave the cab he asks, "Who is Mr. Yow?" We laugh and tell him he is Mr. Yow. It was funny when we were drunk.

There were other moments, but I'm too tired to think of them. I need to stay in my room tonight and that's what I'm going to do. I promise.

THURSDAY: What just happened?

With football starting up soon I decided to take a few days off before I have to work almost every day from now till December. The Wife wanted to go camping so we went to a Lake Vesuvius just outside my home town of Ironton.

We got up late because we are on vacation and its going to be hot and didn't want to sit around in 90 plus weather with 100 percent humidity. We finally got the car packed by 11:00AM. I got the bikes on the car. This was the first time we had two bikes on the bike rack that I have had since 1995. Well the rack did not sit well. We started driving and it got real bad after I went over a set of speed bumps. So we had to head to Dick's Sporting Goods and spent WAY too much for a new rack. It's now 12:30 and I'm started to get frustrated. This trip isn't going well and we have not left Columbus.

We get on the open road and I notice the new bike rack sits a lot higher on my car and well, it's causing massive draft on the back of the car which forces the Mazda to suck gas. A trip that normally I can do on just over a quarter of a tank, Well it took over a half a tank. We almost ran out of gas. We took the back way in which is very rural and not a lot of gas stations. We actually passed one station selling gas at $3.15, not too much of a problem but when I know that in Ironton it will be $2.70 I'll try to make it and I barely did.

We fill up and head to what I called Ft. Baker, yes Ft. Baker, if there is a Ft. Wayne then I can have a Ft. Baker. With the help of Wilson we find a suitable site that is close to the bathrooms for the wife, but kind of way from other people. We picked the site and then found out Wilson had bad memories of this site, you can ask him about it if you ever get to meet him. After we set up we then head to his former ranger house for dinner.

I have a new found respect for old man Wilson, THAT MAN CAN COOK! He got some beef from his cattle raising parents. He opened the package, unfolded the beef and then unfolded the beef once more. These steaks are FREAKING HUGE! We ate like kings and a queen. Beef straight from the butcher is better than any steak you can buy at a store or a restaurant.

After dinner we put on our smoking jackets and sat around discussing world politics and how we can better society... Who are we kidding we drank out ASSES OFF! IT got ugly and early quick. It started off with wine and Guinness, then it went to the mother of all drinks the Black and Raspberry which shall be referred from this point on and forever as the Vesuvius Special. Wilson and I had three of them and then more Guinness and then the hard stuff. Some special rum from the Caribbean and some Italian death drink. All I have to say is enjoy the picture show.

Wilson seems to be very relaxed.

So you had a bad day... Well, make that 2 months

It's been a while since I posted. Not because I've not had anything to say, it's that I have been exhausted and not feeling "up to the task." After what The Wife and I have been through since our marriage, once things settle down we should be able to handle anything.

It all started with The Wife being fired from her job a few weeks before the wedding. We handled that well. She found a Nanny gig three days a week for a set of triplets. Well all things there were going fine till they decided to move to Texas. She's now been out of work for the better part of a month. She's been trying to supplement some work with a "sitter" service, but they have not been helping that much. She's now working one day a week at our church. We went from her making almost $300 a week to $80 (before taxes). Well that caused a problem when her parents decided to enforce a rent increase of $250. We knew about this before hand, but we are so far streched for money this is not what we needed. We have struggled financial which has caused many an argument. Luckily, we have some how gotten most of our bills paid. A few are not full payments, but most are. I hate money.

Then there's my job. I am completely unhappy. I just found out that I have used all my sick day. In my near seven years of TV I have only used all my sick days ONCE! That was because I needed knee surgery. I actually think I'm getting sick more often, because I really do not want to be at work. I've been in trouble for my "attitude." We moved the only decent reporter to a new shift so I have to work with Reporter A (see the ranting post a couple down.) almost three times a week. Even sports shoots are no longer fun. I get to sleep in and go to work late, but I won't get off work till 10, 11 or later and then be back in at 9:30 and have to work with Reporter A because I had a good day the day before. Then this past Thursday my tripod decided that it wanted a nap so it fell over. Oh, did I mention my $30,000 CAMERA was on the tripod at the time. Oh, and the former GM who now is in charge of sales at the the local sister station to the Network was standing there. Oh, and it may cost $7,000 to fix. Oh yeah, and will take 2 or 3 months to fix. It's to the point that I am looking around, but I have ZERO confidence in myself, which makes it hard to look. Also the fact that we have no money makes the moving process a hell of a lot harder.

Also this week I get a phone call with The Wife balling her eyes out. She had a bad e-mail from one of her sister-in-laws and called her mom about it and the mom make The Wife feel even worse. The Wife grew up with a lot of strange circumstances. She was pretty much in foster homes most of her formative years. At age six she was placed in with her adoptive family. At age 9 I believe went back to her biological father then went BACK to her adoptive family. Well this has caused some issues. The e-mail from the sister-in-law basically said we where in grateful for what the adoptive parents have done for us and that we were bad people because we have not finished our thank you letters for the wedding. Also complained that Mikki and her biological sister were late to the church on the day of her wedding making her hair dresser (the sister-in-laws mother) wait 30 minutes. The mother then complained about The Wife's biological sister and they took some comments she made wrong and it "ruined" the reception. Well all of this was news to us. My family had a blast and never knew anything was wrong. If anyone knows the sister know that 30 minutes late to anything is a miracle! She's usually 45 to an hour late. I think that her family doesn't realize that they make comments that makes The Wife feel less of a person which makes it harder for me, because I have to build her back up.

You know what? I am gratefully that they bought a condo for her to rent and it is nice. I know they have helped her with finances. I know that she did not like school and it was a struggle to get her to graduate, but don't bring it up every time we talk or every time she calls to vent about our struggles.

I hope things start getting better. If not, I'm either going to become an alcoholic or start wearing The Wife's dresses smear make-up on my face and go on a rampage.
